The Optimism Collective’s fourth round of Retroactive Public Goods Funding (Retro Funding) took place in the Summer of 2024. Retro Funding 4 allocated 10m OP tokens to reward onchain builders who have deployed contracts to the Superchain and contributed to the success of Optimism.


Project Insight:

Details ongoing and upcoming RetroPGF projects, with a focus on RetroPGF 3 and future rounds.

  • Project Application: The period for submitting the project.

  • Voting: The date that badgeholders vote on the RetroPGF proposals.

  • Result: The date on which the results of the voting are announced.

  • Awarded Project: The number of projects that received the retro funding reward.

  • Total Award: The total amount of OP tokens allocated for a specific retro funding round.

  • Median OP Received: The median OP reward allocated to all awarded projects.

Impact Metrics:

The thesis behind Retro Funding 4 is that by leveraging quantitative metrics, badgeholders are able to more accurately express their preferences for the types of impact they want to reward, as well as make more accurate judgments on the impact delivered by individual projects. During round 4, badgeholders did not vote on individual projects.

Vote by Selecting and Weighting Metrics: Badgeholders voted by selecting and assigning weights to various impact metrics. Each metric comes with a description and a link explaining its calculation.

The visualization will illustrate the impact and the number of times each metric was used to evaluate projects, ranking metrics from most chosen to least chosen, and also showing the average weight assigned to each metric by all badgeholders.

By Ballot Votes: The total number of ballots that included each metric.

By Average Weight: The average weight for each metric chosen by all badgeholders.

Eligible Projects

Provides specific information on each eligible project, enhancing transparency and understanding of project dynamics.

  • Project Name: The name of the project.

  • Category: The category of the project, including Social, NFT, Utility, Governance, Cross Chain, DeFi, and Open Source

  • Received: The amount of funding that the project received.

Badgeholder Ballot

Badgeholder Name: The name or identifier of each badgeholder.

Ballot Status

  • Published: Ballots that have been made publicly accessible for viewing by the community.

  • Unpublished: Ballots that are still in draft form and have not yet been released for public viewing.

  • Not Voted: Badgeholders who have not yet cast their vote on the available proposals.

Open-source multiple: The number of times each badgeholder chose to multiply the impact of projects that are open source.

Metrics: The number of impact metrics each badgeholder chose to evaluate the projects.

Displays the metrics selected by each badgeholder to evaluate projects, along with the weights assigned to each metric.
